I recently sold a Sharp LC-26GA5 26" LCD TV to a client and mounted it on his wall. It was a very difficult installation and included running a DVI through his walls to a computer. At the time, he didn't yet have a DVI card in the computer. When his computer guy installed the card, he claims that the Sharp TV is not compatible. Tomorrow I am going out to the jobsite to see what I can do about it. Does anyone know what the problem is and if there is a resolution? I don't want to get stuck with that TV and the client is not pleased.

I believe that Sharp model has a DVI-I input. It should handle both -D and -A formats..

Find out what DVI format the computer video card is using. It may be DVI-A or DVI-D. After you get that info find the matching cable for it.
This guy has a lot of info on the format

If the video card only has a VGA output I think you can get adaptors to convert the signal to DVI.

Hope this helps!

Let us know how this works out for you.

Thank you. The computer is DVI-D. The TV should accept DVI-D. I called Sharp tech support and they say it should work (at least that's what he read out of the book-- it always worries me when they start out by asking if the TV is switched to the DVI input ). I still haven't looked at the problem for myself, but it might just be a cable problem or something. I could also be a computer guy that knows nothing but computer. I think some computer guys have a problem as soon as they get into our arena. As soon as I fix it (I'm being optimistic), I will post the answer.

Keep in mind that tech support has to deal with all kinds of people. They always have to start with the simple solutions. Let's not forget that the computer must also be set, or configured, to send information out to the DVI cable. I hope the computer people have done this correctly, but sometimes it is the easy stuff we neglect that gets us into trouble.
