On of our builders called today and wants to know if he can cut the 50' lead wire on his XM home kit, and reassemble it. Is this possible? I have only installed a few XM kits. But Ive never been asked this question.

Buy an extension cable. DO NOT attempt.

I've done this before but it's not the easiest thing to do. It's basically a braided coax cable inside and the outside braid cuts easily. I tried this in my partner's house a couple months ago because he only needed 5 more feet and we had an extra antenna around to cannibalize. No loss of signal, no problems so far. Soldered it together. I have repeated this process 2 other times with similar results.
Why all the fighting and cussing? Can't Dave play nice? We're just here to learn and have fun. It was a harmless jab, laugh and get over it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BTW... S-E-A-R-C-H!!!
or do the work!!!

You can buy an SMB to BNC Connector that will allow you to connect RG6 to extend it.

Training was cool, learned a few new tricks. Also got to see some familiar faces.
