Just a thought and some venting.

Has anyone else noticed that with the addition of the digital cable box + cable modem + the newest add-on of the hi-def cable box we seem to be officially out of channels to modulate on....

I asked channel-vision yesterday and they said with the 3102-118 which is for 118 and above; the hi def will bleed beyond the latest frequency of the last hi def channel which is around 753 mhz (channel 117) and affect the channels all the way to 125 in some way shape or form.

They pretty much alluded to the fact that I was S.O.L.

Is this happening everywhere ; and especially to you chicago suburburan installers, is there any fix besides a second line to that tv.

Thanks
CI

Get Satellite! JK. We are running dual coax to each location and if they do a CCTV system, we use video in one of the exisiting side of the dual coax, or add another wire. Modulation is also driving me crazy.

You hit the nail on the head, "crazy" is correct. Those simple jobs with a 2 channel modulator will cause you premature hair loss. The second RG-6 will work but your
home run location starts to get busy, and the explanation of how to see those cameras gets lenghthy.

One solution is to PESTER your local cable co., those crazy folks in Malibu, Ca. who have loads and loads of cameras, do have their comcast digital cable system mapped with 2 channels "CAM 1" and "CAM 2" ( which if I remember is UB 117 and 119).

At least you can put in a quad or switcher for multiple camera's on each channel. I can't say this for any other areas of the country though.

I work in the Chicago area, and have a way around the problem. Take a look at notch filters that block a group of channels that the customer doesn't care about, typically 65-70. Modulate in that channel group and you will not interfere with the upper freq HD channels.

You're welcome to call me, if you like, and I'll walk you through it.

I agree with Theaterworks, I found it easier in the mid-90's to just clear out a few channels and plug in my modulated ones (Lived in Chicago then). The local cable companies always seemed to move the channel line up around every few months and I would just block out some shopping channels - for some reason those always seemed to stay in the same place.
