I am not new to the a/v field, as I work in broadcast and I have installed and/or troubleshooted many systems for friends, relatives, etc... However, I am really wanting to start custom installs and new construction pre-wiring on a full-time basis. My question is how do I get started in this field. I have doen alot of research into the different certifications that one can have, but I can't seem to figure out how to get my foot in the door. Should I find a builder that has customers that have this need, or should I try to get a job with one of the established HT companies that are in my area? Any thoughts or suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

I would find a local highend shop in Huntsvile and learn the buisness for a few years before heading out on your own.
