Seems DTV likes to have a few laughs. Just when I get done programming 6 remotes with Music Choice favorites, they go and change the lineup last night.

Looks like I'll be up all night again tonight.
And the thought of going back and reprogramming the many remotes we have out in the field already. (Oh the humanity!)

John-

Haven't looked yet... pick one for me:

a. They did it to make room for new high-quality music channels that my customers will really enjoy! DirecTV's a great, customer oriented company. Thanks guys!

b. They just re-arranged everything (deck chairs on the Titanic?) for no good reason, so now we get to reprogram hundreds of touchpanels in our "spare" time. They are a twisted, perverse bunch of corporate lunkheads with no concern for their customers or installers. Hose off, you wankers!

They're adding the disco channel, and
about three others.

Lots of keypads and remotes to re-program! Lots of new music channel lists to send to our commercial accounts (hundreds). It's the second time we have had to do this. DirecTV, please leave the dammed thing alone!

Speaking of the new lineup, has anyone noticed the album cover art showing up on some channels?

Time-Warner Cable and Cox Cable have had this for a while, but it seems slow to come for DirecTV. By the way, the cable companies have also changed their lineup, though different than DirecTV. I will be glad to see the album cover art when it comes to DirecTV.

In spite of the inconvenience, I think that there have been some improvements in the Music Choice lineup. But do we really need three rap channels?

Music Choice has some serious competition with XM and Sirus . I am finding it harder and harder to sell DirecTV Music Choice to commercial accounts for $34.95 a month, when they can get a hundred stations on XM for only $9.95 a month. Since XM doesn't require a phone line, it is difficult for them to get caught using it for commercial installations. It is also cheaper to install (labor) in most commercial installations. It is killing us for commercial sales.

Music Choice needs to get more competitive with more channels, less repetition, a reasonable price, and less hassle getting a customer set up in the first place (DirecTV commercial applications are as bad as filling out a loan application).

As for residential DirecTV Music Choice, why not give us the full lineup that they give commercial accounts? The cable companies are giving us the extra stations with album cover art and various music triva information that people find interesting (well, at least I do). Get with the program, DirecTV!

Speaking of music stations, why does Dish Network broadcast half of their stations in mono? What's up with that?
