I may be wrong, but I don't think jputtcamp is outputting component - just HDMI.

Basically I think we've exhausted all possibilities, aside from either an option / feature / issue on the 5805 we don't know about, or a faulty 5805. Which to be honest is I think what jputtcamp was thinking in the first place.

I would still like to know if the audio portion of the HDMI signal is working, as that would seem to indicate a connection is being made.

Aside from that, maybe use a cheaper reciever, and a seperate DVI switch such as the ones from Gefen - not as elegant, but if it does the job and it's hidden away...

I have had the thing going hdmi only, dvi only etc with converters/adaptors to insane extents, I'm using a projector with dvi only so I had to grab a hdmi lcd tv to try that out, and again all the same. If the 5805 is not in the loop everything works...if it sits between the source and projector/tv it sometimes resolves the resolution but never displays a picture.

It does kinda suck that the 3910 doesn't do both component and dvi/hdmi but I was aware of that and switching it's outputs properly.

I appreciate all the suggestions, I will mess with the audio portion when I get a chance this weekend, but she's coming down and getting shipped out next week...yippee...

Still never a call from denon 7 or 8 messages and nothing....

jputtcamp,

That sucks that Denon is not responding. I went through the 5805 Certification about a month ago, but am still waiting for the first unit to arrive (so unfortunately, don't have any experience actually using it yet). I do, however, have the contact info of the Denon trainer and I think he would be interested in knowing installers aren't getting the support needed on this. Send me an e-mail (in my profile) if you need his contact info.

Jeff is a good guy, and he should be made aware of what's going on.

To settle this matter. I never Got ahold of the trainer, but once I told the rep I wanted to ship it out I finally got a different phone number for tech support than I had been using. I called them, they told me to do a firmware update in the dvd player. That worked for the dvd player. As for the Sat Box, It just started working on its own I have no idea why, it did so before the dvd player update, but it takes a long time to snyc up when routed through the receiver, in fact if I switch to the dbs input on the receiver from somewhere else I then have to change the channel to get the sat box to resnyc and display. The denon guy said that the 5805 is very particular about HDCP he said 'moreso than any other products on the market' (whatever that means).

The 3910 I had in the showroom has been there for a while, the update was issued in january and is available on the consumer website, it worked like a charm.
