Sony's specs. suggest that their PSS-100 ceiling mount allows the projector to be dropped a maximum of about 16" from ceiling to middle of the lens with an adjustment pipe "D".
Anyone have experience with another mount or "adjustment pipe/extension" that would allow it to drop further so we don't have to build the ceiling downward?
I would like to stick with the Sony mount if possible since it looks good even though I've heard it's a real pain to work with.
Suggestions Anyone?

Cheif mounts have a Universal bracket UPA-1002 with an extension tubes that can be adjusted up or down without removing the projector. Retails in the $270 - $300.00 (US) range. Chiefmounts may also have a Sony model specific mount. [Link: chiefmfg.com]Good products with excellent support if you ever have a problem. Cheers

Chief Mounts all have an inch and a half pipe thread for an extension. You can get any 'extension' you need at your local hardeware store. 3", 6", 12",18",24" etc. for about 3 to 10 dollars(depending on length) + the can of black spray paint.
You could have a 10' 'extension' for about $20.
I haven't used the Sony mount for quite a while (overpriced) but, I think they also used 1 1/2 pipe; or 1 1/4. At any rate, it should be easy to get the lens hight where you want it.

Home Depot will custom cut any length you need, and they'll thread the end for you, too... BTDT with some TV mounts.

The UPA product from Chief mounts uses 1" instead of the 1.5" pipe and yes 1" black pipe can be purchased from Home Depot in custom lengths (just purchased some yesterday).
Note: The UPA-1002 & UPA-1003 come with an adjustable extension.

I would contact the Qualia center and ask them. Qualia products aren't treated as regular Sony products and have been thought through in incredible detail and high end service is supposed to be delivered. 1-877-QUALIA3.
