looking for a product to help get a choice of two signals to one of 11 tvs from a remote location. the signal can be sent over Chan 3 rf to the tvs or over a composite w/ l & r audio.

essentially trying to find a switcher to mount at rack location to choose between 2 sat boxes and output to tv

any ideas?

thx

Any reason not to make both of them live and use a dual modulator set above the existing channels on your TV tuners?

yes, becasue it is in a commercial location with all 11 tvs in a line mounted from the ceiling. so therefore a remote can't be used because it will, without alot of work, change all the tvs at once. modualtors would work but then i would have to run a xantech ir router and use ir eyes and shields and yada yada yada, way more work than shoud be needed

I tend to overthink things, but this is not clear to me.

You only want to get it to one TV at any one time? The suggestions that you modulate AT ALL will not do for that; you will instead need a 2 in, 11 out (or whatever can do at least that) matrix switcher to send separate video signals to each TV. Even then, you must choose the TVs carefully, because some TVs go blank with no video, most display something like "VIDEO 1," a rare few turn off with no signal, and an even rarer few turn off with not signal and back on with a signal.

the signal can be sent over Chan 3 rf to the tvs
or over a composite w/ l & r audio.

Well, if you send it via channel 3, you will get snow and hiss on every unselected TV. That CAN'T be what you want.

Yeah. I described the wiring above. Check www.calrad.com, or email me about this; they have some switchers that might do this very nicely.

If, on the other hand, you are okay with sending one signal or the other to all eleven TVs at once, just use the a/v outputs of a cheapo satellite receiver, plug 'em into a $20 drugstore channel 3 modulator, run the output of one modulator through the other one into an RF distribution network built for eleven TVs, and voila! Whichever satellite receiver is on will run channel 3 to all eleven TVs (except the one closer to the TVs, wire-wise, will not let the other modulator signal through so it will take precedence).
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Alright let me try to be a little more clearer.

Every TV should always have something on it, either staelltie 1 or 2

but, every tv should should bea able to have either one on and be selected independantly of the others.

I have found some switchers that coudl do this, but are overkill. let me dig through that site and see if i can find anything

Might be over kill. Crestron Pvid CNXPVID8x3. This swither will allow you to run CAT5 to each location and use the Pvid Receiver to balance it to component video. This will allow you to have three sources all independent of each other. Then use touchpanels to control what you are doing, or a wireless touchpanel. This is probably overkill, and if you are not a crestron dealer you won't be able to get the pieces.

I am doing a similar job now. I feel the easist way to do it is the IR router which is what i will be doing. This way i can turn on all the tvs switch inputs and all, at the head end. It also easy at night to shut off the tvs and turn on....
