I am not sure what to do here but this is the application.
I am installing a projector, dvd, and vcr. It is being used in an office where the cinaro is this.
The equipment will be in an equpiment closet. They want to controll the eqiupment via some type of media server. They will also be using a laptop on the project which they would like to have at the poduim. The thing is they want to use wireless and controll everything. for the dvd/vcr no problem i will use IR stuff if need be. But the laptop they want to hook up to the projector and not have any wires.

I am not sure if what to do for this application.

If you get a decent computer projector, it will come with a remote that will let you control the mouse cursor and maybe other functions.

Also some will allow you to communicate with them over a wireless network, meaning they could keep the laptop where they could access it.

InFocus makes a wireless connection for laptops and their business PJs. Basically like a wireless vga cable.

Also, there are lots of USB wireless powerpoint controllers. Check mobile Computing for those. FInally, the Gyration wireless keyboard and mouse may be more robust for your appilcation.

I was concidering that infocus wirless for the projector but it is only on t he commerical verison of there projectors that it works. They want the residential version. I was considering setting up a mini wireless network that would connect the laptop at the podium to a computer in the closet which will feed to the projector. And then using a Oris to control the DVD and vcr RF and IR on the project to switch inputs.

HOw does this sound?

This is in an office and they want a home projector? I would think they would want the best solution available.

I have no idea how you are going to control a desktop computer with a laptop computer over a wireless network unless you are going to use some desktop sharing software. Don't think that's too reliable - at least I wouldn't use it in a boardroom setting.

Is there a differance in quality of picture when using the commerical vs. residential?
B/c this new thing for the laptop would be great. Less problems and everything.
