I would be interested in hearing what everyone's average dollar amount per job is and what percentage of it is Whole House A/V vs. Theater. Please also include your state and or city.

I think that info will be in an upcoming issue of CE Pro. They are collecting info now for the top 100, etc.

This is from 2003 Electronics Installation BUsiness Profile Survey (EIB) conducted by EH Publishing and GE Security.
Avg. resi job: $93k
Note: there are a high number of CEDIA members that respond to this survey, meaning it is skewed to the higher end.
Of the high-volume dealers (top 30 structured-wiring installation companies), the average $$ value per sinstallation is $2,600. so you can see there is a lot of variation
Of the CE Pro Top 100, avg. installs are as follows:
22% avg. $100k per install 19% avg. $50-$99k 19% avg. $20-50k 15% avg. $8-20k 25% avg. <$8k
Again, this is probably skewed to the higher end. Note that dealers tell us the SWEET SPOT--where they make the best margins--is somewhere in the lower to middle range. I can't locate the exact figure.
There are different bus. models for every category. I have a chart if anyone wants it. Just email me. -julie
