I need any help with an idea what is going on:
Denon AVR1905 is in a cabinet. Sony 42" plasma is on the wall @ 15' away. Connection: Component video cable, stereo audio cable. Each device is plugged in a different electrical outlet.

The IR repeater is disconnected.

Effect: when the TV is turned off, either with the push switch or with the TV remote control, the receiver turns itself off.

Does it have a video sensing feature on one of the inputs that is designed to do that? IP is what it's called in some of the older Onkyos - they sensed an input signal on video x input and automatically powered on or off the receiver. Just a thought - check the manual.
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

I have to agree with Tom - it sounds an awful lot like the "TV Auto" "feature" being enabled in Marantz receivers - any voltage on the TV composite input turns the receiver on and lack of that voltage turns the receiver off...

Thank you for replies.

I checked with Denon tech support. They could not suggest anything.
I did not find any mention about TV Auto feature.

When the AVR turns off, the power light turns flashing red. I suspect, there could be incorrect grounding, or missing grounding in newly installed electrical outlet for TV, which may cause a surge triggering the AVR's protection... (I am trying to guess).

Disconnect all the interconnects between the two and see if the problem stops.

Thank you

I will do exactly that, when I come back to the house.
