I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on Sherwood equipment. Specifically their Newcastle line of recievers?
Thanks

love em!
Easy to navigate menus, great sound, the higher range ones have 6 inputs, 3 of them are RGB, one 6 or 8 channel input, and it uses an MX700 for the remote (or an SL9600, depending on the number of inputs)
The subroom capabilites are great, too- it sends video to the subroom

We can do it my way, or we can do it my way while I yell. The choice is yours. |

A little mixed feelings on these ones, the product is great, but have had some issues with remote control. Older styles of remotes won't learn some codes, and as far as I can tell no discrete OFF. (I hope someone proves me wrong!)

They do have discrete codes and we've have had nothing but good luck with the Newcastle line. I haven't really done much with their lower priced Sherwood line.

There is a previous thread that states the DVD player doesn't have a discrete on. Wish their lower end recievers had a few more video inputs.

If you contact Sherwood they will send you all the discrete cose .The only ones that dont have them are the bottom of the line.

ive had endless problems with there low end DVD players. there seemed to be a batch of dodgy platters. bit of a bugger as the problems wrecked the brand for us. nothing but kudos for the newcastle line though especially the A965/P965 combo.. connection options galore.

If only it was that easy! |

The Sherwood/Newcastle receivers and pre-pro/amp combo are great. Wolves in wolves' clothing at a sheep's price.
No problems with remotes...particularly if you use MX products. They are already in the IR database, too.
