What the heck should we use to make this POS look good? The panel looks like it can do a great job with color fidelity, black level and resolution, but the internal image processing is abysmal. It is going to be very difficult for me to sell this to anyone for $8,000 without some sort of outboard processing.
Anyone?
Anyone?

Um! Plasma anyone! Displays should sell themselves. Otherwise the unit has priced itself out of that market.

ut oh... My dentist had a 50" Sharp plasma fry on him... Sharp offered to replace it with their 45" LCD. Am I in for more headaches?
i told him not to buy their plasma, that it was a POS, but, when he does a tooth for ya at no charge.......

We can do it my way, or we can do it my way while I yell. The choice is yours. |

DVDO looks good in person and great on paper. Relatively cheap, all things considered.
Should do wonders if only the processing is wrong with an otherwise great screen. At least you're not talking about some POS Plasma that shouldn't have seen the light of day (most of them).

DVDO and Lumagen make the best of the less expensive scalers. I have always liked the Lumagen, even if I have difficulty spelling it. I have not compared the two products side by side, but for 1k, you get the ability to scale from from 480p to 720p + 1080i with DVI pass through with the Lumagen Vision DVI. You worry about selling a product costing 8k but not 9k. I think the real issue is not to sell the Sharp. I have never liked their LCDs although I think the LG, Samsung, NEC, Sim2, Sony and Mitsubishi are quite good. However, I have gone over to the dark side and no longer pay as much attention to these details. Control, Control, Control. If I can control it the client never, ever complains. I guess that, therefore, my opinion my not be "expert" enough to be helpful.
