P.S.
The 'tube' subs your refering to sound like crap!
Find a corner away from the seating area and build a ported enclosure to fit.
The 'bass from the roof' isn't going to work in this situation. Unless it has a 90 degree wall to 'couple' with. That would give you a 3 db. gain (twice as loud) that might help.
Every day is a good day.......some are just better than others!

Proud to say that my property is protected by a high speed wireless device!

Just a suggestion after many years of getting bass output. If you truly want a sub woofer you will need to get speakers with an f3 cutoff well below 20 hz. If you want to keep the next octave of bass clean, you will need to set up a system with the first octave on some very efficient large speakers with lots of clean power to drive them. An electronic crossover to a second set of woofers to cover the range from 40 to 80 hz on clean power and then the mains for the remainder of the musical spectrum. If you try to cheat this formula with LOUD bass the cone excursions will color the next octave of music with doppler.

Gerald,
Where do you find pro cabinets that have a 3dB down spec under 20Hz?? and what signal are you going to send them that's below 20Hz??

Maybe Bag End with the Elf Integrator or a ServoDrive will PLAY below 20Hz audibly, but it more than 3dB below the reference output.

Any club system designer worth his salt would INSIST on a rumble filter or other subsonic circuit to limit signals below 30-40Hz in any system that may ever have turntable(s).
Any record that's even slightly warped will cause extreme low frequency cone flutter at the expense of tons of current that will suck the headroom out of the entire system and cause the drivers and amplifiers to live a stressful and shortened life.

The "boom-shake-a-boom-shake-a" stuff on techno and dance music hardly ever dips below 40Hz anyway, and is primarily 50-60Hz.

A more realistic F3 (or 3dB below reference level) measurement on pro sound bass cabs would usually be in the 35-45Hz range and maybe even higher, but given the prodigious output capoabilities above F3, they will still do fine on the "drops" below 30Hz before the subsonic filter adds to the cutoff.

That EAW dual 18" model linked in a post above looks like nice solution to tuck into a corner for optimum loading.

these guys usualy beat all the big name pro subs (EAW JBL and so forth) in live competitions. Their subs are much smaller also.

I'm a JBL pro dealer as well as an EAW dealer. I'v done some serious night clubs, and I have never heard of bassmax. But the website really looked good, so I'm definitely going to investigate further. Bottom end at high SPL is always a huge issue. And cost is always a major factor in the final outcome of a system.

I started back in the 70’s, I used to build nightclubs, recording studios and live performance sound systems, so I have had the opportunity try just about everything. I was kind of skeptical also, Bassmax had a competition here in Seattle a couple of years ago and the big JBL and EAW subs were put to shame by the Bassmax setup that was about half the size. Very impressive product.

uhh....EAW....EAW....EAW

Honestly...why bother with anything other than EAW

If you have a decent budget EAW makes speakers for every application

They are the BEST! Forgeta boudit!

I haven't heard of Bassmax...the concept sounds cool but haven't had the chance to work with them or hear them. I wonder why nobody uses them?

HELLO?

Is there no room in the middle of the dance floor for a riser / dance platform / custom built sub enclosure?

If it's not the right environment for this type of thing, then you can never do it.

If you CAN do this. You can get very far with some books, skills, tools, Heavy MDF, Plywood, insulation, a couple of 15" or 18" MTX's and 600-1000+ watts out of a crown amp.

An old school solution that's been sucessfully used in privately owned clubs for decades.

If you follow the formulas and put in a hard days work. You can even impress yourself.
