Here's about everything you can possibly want to know about that screen:

We have been doing a lot of projector installations lately. We have been using the Yamaha DPX-1100 and have used both the Vutech Silversrar and the Stewart Firehawk and although the Vutech is good the Stewart is amazing. Much more $ for the Stewart but an amazing result. Depends on the how much money the cutomer wants to spend.

How do you handle a screen that has to ship rigid and fully assembled??

We did a Draper Onyx w/ AT Grey material and they shipped it assembled. Man it was nearly impossible to get that sucker in that room!!

2ndRick, WHo ordered it assembled? All the Onyx screens I have ever received were in a large packing tube. The ends clipped on to the rails and are held with a single screw. insert the threaded plastic tube into the screen, add the clip rail and STREEETCH it over. 15-20minutes and you are done.
I may be schizophrenic, but at least I have each other.

I must agree with GotGame, the Onyx was soooo easy to install, and the look was very nice for "THE MONEY". IMHO, for the money, best out there. Have a great day.

I can't believe that the SilverStar is so underrated on this site.
I don't know why you don't just send in a request for a sample and see for your selves.

They DO NOT ship the AT Grey acoustically transparent material for you to assemble yourself. It HAS to come assembled according to the factory. I argued and argued, but to no avail.

I don't use any other material from Draper, because I prefer the the fit and finish of Stewart screens for non AT applications, and there is no doubt that GrayHawk material from Stewart is superior to the HD Grey material from Draper.

The only reason I use a screen other than Stewart is for acoustically transparent applications. On rare occasions, the perfed pattern of Stewart's AT product lines up with the pixels on a digital projector and causes a weird moire pattern.

I use Draper's AT because it is a woven material and seems to be less succeptible to the moire effect, and the fit and finish of the Onyx screeen used w/ Velux is acceptible.
