What are you guys using for video feeds. I currently use MIT silver mini rG59 but was looking to switch to sometihng a little more flexible.

Anyone using the braided center stuff with crimp on ends? Thoughts, comments, concerns.

Anyone using their ends with it? I think they are in the catalogue as Coaxmasters.

Thanks

Be aware that one of the Belden part #s for mini-coax penta cable uses a nice slick over jacket and strips & terminates like butter.

One of the other Belden #s uses a rubbery outer jacket and you feel like your pulling a freight train through the house.
PLUS, when you get this fine cable from A to B, you notice that they were kind enough to put an extra foil between the braid and dialectric that shorts the ICM mini compression connectors unless you remove it, and to beat that, it's GLUED to the dialectric, so you have to flake it off and pick at it with an Xacto for 5-10 min. on each cable.

Why would I have even taken that spool??
My supplier SWITCHED me to the crappy cable part # on a re-order of the original cable without me knowing, and it was pulled and cut on the first site before we noticed it.
Even though I only got one roll like that, it was enough.

Look at the cable you buy, I believe that the better cable is from the Belden "home choice" part #s.

the only issue I have with any of these "mini" coax bundles is once you get beyond like 20 ft or so you have about 30db attenuation, which is a huge drop in signal level. Take a look at the techincal specs on the belden home choice, which is think is one of the best choices, it has tons of loss after just a short distance.

thanks - yes I am looking to buy a roll of 3 cond and 5 conductor. pulling the single strands as needed is a bit of a rash. I didnt know if the braided center core was problematic to terminate

We use the Liberty RGB-Mini, and their compression BNC and RCA connectors with great success.

I've used Liberty mini with the compressions, once you get the hang of it they go on VERY quickly. I've had very good success with this combo and have run some pretty long distances (75-100') without seeing any picture anomolies.

Another consideration,
I continue to use the 5 conductor (penta) even though I usually wind up using it in component. I had a case with a Denon 3805 and the automatic upconvert wigged out on the S-video feed from the JVC s-video deck I specified and mounted into an RSH shelf.
Well at testing, I noticed that the VCRs video feed did not work, and the ambiguous Denon manual said that the upconvert feature may not work with VCRs. Needless to say, a call to liberty for a couple S-video breakouts saved the day, although the control just got a little more comlicated now that I had to switch at the projector as well.

Liberty is a life saver and has my future business locked, especially after the part # switch I mentioned earlier at my "other" wire vendor.

Let me just throw out the Canare name. In my opinion, its the best 'system' available. Their tools are excellent, their connectors look like they are chiseled from a single block of aluminum, and they offer a ton of different sizes and types - solid and stranded centers. Their stuff is easy to pull and really flexible. I buy mine from a distributor - Have Inc. - but I have gotten to know the folks at the CA Canare office and they send me samples and catalogs all the time. Great company to deal with with published specs and performance right on their webpages. I usem their stuff for everything - prewire, equipment cables and wiring my racks.

Only one complaint... the whole 800 # on the wire thing... Just hate to sell it over-the-counter and have the guy figure out how much cheaper he can get it from them...

What's the price comparison between the Belden homechoice 5 wire and the Liberty 5 wire?

Liberty puts my company's name on the wire at N.C. Maybe if you don't specify that they put your name & no. on it they default to their own? Plus I doubt that they will ever sell to the end user. I've been pretty happy with them over the years.

Now that is cool. Seriously. Is your company name on it every few inches like the manufacturer name normally is?

TIA.

I make the stinger 1/32" longer. Solves the foil problem.
