Has anyone noticed that after calibrating a set in the service menu and exiting, white balance, brirhtness, color, tint all change. I calibrated for a specific color temp (Reference theater) in the service menu but when returning to that after exiting everything was off. There wern't any HQ, fleshtone or other circuits on before or after. Seems strange. Any thoughts?

This was causing some serious red errors. After adjusting in service to make it perfect out of service (is that a cohesive thought) it corrected a lot of the red error. I do however get loss of edging on fully saturated reds. Any thoughts?

Thanks

Could you be more specific? What brand and model number is this set?

Pioneer Elite 620HD rptv

white balance set to d65 in sservice mode

had to recal to give me d65 in ref theater mode

i set it up so color/tint/brightness/contrast all set to zero and properly calibrated with input 1. seems to be easier if someone screws with it later

I don't have too much of experience with Pioneer. I just calibrated one PDP about six month ago and I barelly remember.

A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

You had to recalibrate it to what to give you D65 when not in service mode?

and this would be about the fifteenth year where every Pioneer set I see looks a bit pink.

I must say I didnt record the value when in service mode but was at least -6 or -7 clicks on Red drive and a few on blue drive. The cuts were only a couple
Tint and color were +10 and +13 clicks respectively. I checked with a decoder pattern and the red push seems to be gone. There still is a slight edging problem with fully saturated reds. I'll watch tonite and see if I can give a specific example.

I originally calibrated in STD mode but switched to REF THEATER mode as it cuts RDRV 6 clicks (So says the service manual). GDRV isnt an option - there is only Blue & red. I was thinking the red gun is overdriving and blooming significantly causing the edging problem.

With Pioneer TV's you must remember that you need to do the "stanadard" setting first as all others are "Offsets" from this one. If you do 1080i or comp 480p and then do standard, everything will shift. Aslo remember to reset or "Zero" the user settings befor doing anything, so that when you look at the pre-post service mode there won't be a huge difference (exiting the service mode resets the user settings).
