I have a Entre and the 5900 DVD changer. All of the sudden when I select a movie to view from the Entre it will not go to the movie in the changer. This just started to happen. It will switch to the changer like it is suppose to, but not go to the movie. The Entre definately recognizes the changer, I did the DVD lookup for every movie last night just to make sure and got information for all 400 of them. Does anyone have any idea of why all of the sudden it will not load the DVD after it is selected from the ENTRE. Thanks

Does this only happen with a particular DVD or is it any number of DVD's?
Are you controlling the changer through rs232 or through the "Changer control" input?
Does the door randomly open on the changer?

It happens with every DVD, it just started out of the blue. Entre is tied to the dvd player via RS-232. The door does not randomly open.

Using an Escient to control the same DVD player I was having a fair amount of problems with the changer doing odd things when I only had 232 hooked up. After I added the 1/8" mini plug connector for Changer Control it fixed most of the issues. You could try that as the entre has the output for changer control, hook both up, and make sure the 232 cable is screwed in tightly to make a solid connection.
I'm assuming since the system worked before that the changer is in the "Main" position and not Sub1 or Sub2 because the entre can only control the changer when it is in the "Main" setting (there is a switch on the back to set this option).
If all this is correct then try resetting the entre and the changer. Press the latching power button on the changer to turn it completely off, let it sit for a minute and turn it back on. Then press and hold the power button on the entre until the standby light begins to flash and then release it.
Did that fix the problem? I am not sure about he changer control, just a guess after using a different media manager to control it, but the rest I got from looking through the entre manual.

I dont see the mini plug for the Entre, unless it is the IR that I hook up to the DVD changer control. ?????

You are correct... I read the labels wrong in the manual.
You only need to hook up a serial cable from the entre to the changer.
Sorry.

Make sure to reset the DVD Chager as well as the Entre controller... Unplug it and let it sit for a bit, then plug em back in.....

Also reset the Entre by holding the power button down until the hard drive starts to spin. Sometimes they hiccup big time and it takes several attempts to reset them and several minutes once the reset is initialized. On the other hand, it may simply be that the unit is crapped out. We had about a 75% failure rate on Soverign.

It responds to everyother function, I seriously doubt it has gone bad, but I might be wrong. Hopefully not.
