So I get called by a homeowner who wants to update the system in a home he recently bought.

After digging in to what's there now I find there is an HAI Omni panel acting as the HVAC controller with relays controlling everything HVAC.

The HAI system is coming out so a new setup is needed.

Here's what's in the house:

(16) HAI thermostats centrally located in the mech room. There are remote temp and humidity sensors around the house. The Thermostat's relays control the in floor heat. Everthing else in the system is on the Omni board relays with programming to make it operate.

(16) Zones of in floor heat.

(3) AHUs for air cool and heat. Connected to the HAI.

(3) Humidifiers connected to the HAI.

(3) HVR Units connected to the HAI.

(1) Make Up Air Unit. The HAI has 3 separate relays to the fan, heater and damper. The HAI is programmed to operated it when the kitchen or bath exhaust fans are on and also when the cool is on.

There is a massive amount custom programming to maximize comfort and efficiency.

I was thinking Tekmar's TekmarNet system because it works well with Control4. After talking with them today I'm not sure it's the right pick here. No logic engine should I need to recreate any of what the HAI is doing now. Thought about BACnet - never touched it though.

Curious to see what any experts would do with this house.

TIA

You probably have already asked this, but why does the system need to be updated? What will be fixed or improved?

It's a 20+ yr old product that is no longer made. No one wants to touch it except the guy that put it in. To me it's past ready to replace.

I think I answered my own question already. Tekmar. Might loose a couple features to what's programmed in there now but it's ok. Open to suggestions though considering we are replacing everything.
