It is conceptually like the Escient with a cd drive and a hard drive and the ability to rip all of your disks. Funny I have never seen the name anywhere, until a client asked me about it. Client has Sonos zones so I have a feeling this would be a kludgy mix and a NAS would be a better idea. Thought I would ask you guys here.

Just a note: The Brennan is "also" a NAS.

Looking at the pricing, their 2TB B3 is only $679. That isn't bad for a 2TB NAS with streaming services built-in, music database software, and a CD ripper.

I don't like that it doesn't have a network jack. I think that was a pretty stupid oversight. I mean come on... how much would a $7 NIC have added to the cost of the unit?
Also, the only way to control it is from the front panel or IP (either app or web GUI).

Looks like Wifi only. Decent price for what it does. Thanks for bringing this up. Was this shown at last CEDIA?
I may be schizophrenic, but at least I have each other.

I guess I'm from an irrelevant generation who prefers a wired network. Customers are always asking "isn't everything wireless now?". Perhaps I should embrace more wireless and the increased service revenue it will generate.

There was some NAS talk on their website, but it was a bit cryptic. If Sonos could see it on the network, it would seem to be a pretty nice consumer option for getting their CDs gradually onto the network.

I guess if it behaves the way we would hope it would, it could get a thumbs up. 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

Well it's been around for awhile and no one I know is using it. Most have never heard of it.
You would think if it worked as advertised, it would be gaining a lot of popularity.
So it might be as buggy as sunset in a Georgia swamp.

It says it plays through Sonos...
I'm Not an engineer, but I play one on TV.
My handle is Tweety but I have nothing to do with the organization of similar name. I just had a really big head as a child so folks called me tweety bird.

Sonos would see it as a NAS drive.

Never used this piece, but I have used and love the Bluesound Vault for this application. I usually use it with Control4 rather than Sonos though.

But at Half the price, I have to keep this in mind next time it comes up.

for the price, i would buy it just for ripping collections, but....................... it doesnt even have RCA or digital outputs!! only speaker level!!!

I would imagine maybe a USB DAC, but that just adds to the complexity and price.
I love supporting product that supports me!

That is kinda weird, but a USB dac is pretty easy to plug in, and they usually just work.

zero analog output for use in a real multi room audio system or in a traditional 2 chnl set up
Ed will be known as the Tiger Woods of the integration business, followed closely with the renaming of his company to "Hotties A/V". The tag line will be "We like big racks and tight holes"...

You can p;ug in a USB Dac like an AudioQuest Dragonfly.

But really, this is about ripping CD's for someone that is using a more tradtional streamer like a Sonos or Bluesound.

I'd way more like to teach a client how to use this than to put a CD drive in a Desktop computer and teach them how to rip and then transfer to a NAS drive.

Most folks dont even have desktop computers anymore.

It is amazing that none of us have either heard of it or tried it yet. That alone makes me not to want to be the first.
