Hello all. Happy new year!

I have a client with an iPhone and he subscribes to Apple’s lost less music service. Apparently you can get 24/192 Hi-Rez audio out of the iPhone using an external digital to analogue converter. He has a Denon AVR-2808CI receiver, which can process 24/192.

I have no experience streaming Hi-Rez audio and so my question to the group is what can he use to connect his phone to the receiver in order to facilitate the transfer.

He has a lightening to camera/USB3 adapter which according to the web is the adapter of choice but this receiver is just old enough that it says no USB connection.

So would he be looking at an external DAC, or a high res player?

Thanks.

Craig.

Sounds like a job for an external DAC.

Here are a few details about playing Hi res on phones.

Here are a few DAC candidates. I have no experience with any of them.

THX Onyx with Apple adapter for lightning to USB, use the Apple one and not a knock off. some of the knock offs don't work. Much better than the dragonfly or Apogee DAC. Haven't used that model Fiio but their DACS in general are a mixed bag, some pretty good and others not so much.
