good catch. gwstudio thanks for the review so far, do you know what those buttons do?

Those are sleep / wake, volume up and down, just like any Android phone has.

Again, what does a babysitter need access to anything but the tv for?

maybe nothing, maybe not even TV (watch something on her phone), I am not there to make the sitters life miserable, by restricting everything to what I assume will be the minimum needed and making sure she can do nothing more. Either way it is moot isn't it? Even if it is just TV won't a remote be needed?

Broke out the Ava remote tonight and my daughter (24) saw it and took it saying how cool it was vs the regular elan remote ( which is much more capable than many other universal remotes)
She is still using it. So for all the haters, stop being biased against something you haven’t experienced and used.
The reason i picked it up was i was tired of using my phone and knew from the experience that the Ava would be easier and faster

Agreed. My wife already snagged it for the Master Bedroom, have another on order. I hate using my phone, to be honest. A purpose built remote like this is perfect, at least for me.

Glad youre happy! Looks like the key is IF you already like using a mobile device for control, then you may like it. If you hate using a mobile device then its just not for you. Pretty simple. To each their own.

I saw 3 pages of comments and i knew you guys would be arguing about the remote lol.

I think the remote is awesome. Another product that has caught my attention is "Brilliant". It replaces a standard switch or dimmer and gives you app control of devices like sonos/locks/lights etc.

Nothing new here right? Except now you don't have to unlock your phone assuming its in your hand and not upstairs like mine is currently.

No its not crestron or control4 but its cheap and gives you lots of functionality.

Times are a changin...always.
