If you've used Crestron Home or C4, you'll probably be able to pick it up very quickly, since you probably understand how services don't show up on the interface unless all the required connections are made.

What I remember most about learning/using Savant:

- If they had a profile for the device you're trying to use, things went super smooth. If not, it was way easier to *get* a product that they have a profile for than to 'make something work'. Keep in mind, we're talking learning curve level here...I'm sure super smart Savant guys can make anything work.

- Custom work flows were a pain in the butt, and it was hard to figure out stuff on your own. The software wasn't intuitive when it came to the custom stuff - you either knew something or you didn't. Which brings me to the next thing...

- Looking up stuff in the Knowledge Base was frustrating because the info you'd find wouldn't always be applicable to the version of DaVinci that you were working with. I remember being furious when I'd go to do something I'd done a million times only to find that they moved/changed/omitted something in the new version of DaVinci I was using.

Just my 2 cents...

Literally working on our first Savant system. Their training videos suck. They don't give enought detail on how to do something, just tell you to do it. Issues with using Monterey, which I ws told we should use on Macbook Pro. Plus add the learning curve on how Apple does things compared to Windows. Not as easy as they said it wood. And We are a Crestron house, so no stranger to control systems. Trying to figure out why the only thing that seems to be working is power to Marantz and volume. And can't find on their videos how to trace these errors and correct them.

Yea doing Savant CAN be alot easier in some aspects. Hell my kid could do it. As long as you stay in their little bubble with hardware and dont try and get too custom its really easy. But go outside the box and youll end up dealing with their tech support which sucks. Ive had several issues where they cant figure it out and tell me to contact my Rep for a solution, instead of it getting pushed up to engineering team- what good is that? Never is of any use. Plus the hardware isnt the best, AVB audio solutions are crap, remotes and tstats have shitty wifi issues, I could go on and on.

I felt the same in a lot of ways after going to Control4 training, which was live for a week.  They went over a lot but didn't touch upon so much more.  There was a LOT to figure out on my own once out in the wild.
