Anyone familiar with how the Elan volume controls orverride works. Is it just a contact closure or something more elaborate. Have a customer with an older z system that we upgraded to crestron but we want reuse doorbell system and customer would like to keep their VCs. The doorbell system is working already just need to make overide functional.
I saw it on the internet cheaper.....

The override function is triggered with 12 volts.

You shouldn't have any problems integrating the VC's into the system.

There are also jumpers on each VC that set the volume level of the override.

The override on the Elan vc's is a small relay energized by 12v coming down the wire from the controller. The relay bypasses the rotary control, leaving the vc "wide open" for the duration of the doorbell ring. That way, if the control is turned down or off in a given room, the doorbell ring still goes through.

Thanks guys I was just missing the 12 volts. Triggered the relay when doorbell was active and with the 12 volts in the loop it worked perfectly, have not worked with ELAN much,
Many Thanks.
