Does any one have any ideas?
And yes, Plasma is out of budget.
Any preferences to DLP, D-ila, etc...?
Usage will probably be split 50/50 between PC and Sat.
Fire at will!

How about doing front projection? What size room? How far off axis both vertically and horiztonally will people be seated?

Presumably, you'll want to do 4:3 format?

Hitachi's DLP's are amazing...

you can view then from almost any angle.
We can do it my way, or we can do it my way while I yell. The choice is yours.

It is a smaller conference area. Standing conference table (no chairs).
We already went through the FP scenario. No GO!
I've seen the Samsung DLP with PC content, I was not impressed.

I've yet to see a DLP thats crystal clear with PC; SAT looks good, though. Front proj. is out of the ?
You may have to deal with a slight loss of focus when using DLP. Are you sure your pc was set to the proper format for the display? Sometimes, less resolution works better.
Every day is a good day.......some are just better than others!

Proud to say that my property is protected by a high speed wireless device!

Yeah, the Samsung with a Video card that can drive it to native 720P looks OK. I was using a DVI connection at the time too. YMMV

For a low profile device, try the Infocus slim DLP. It is a 61" DLP rear projection with a depth of about 7 inches. Can hang on the wall, like a plasma. 61" plasma = $15-20,000. 61" Infocus = ~8000.

Well, I have a stupid question maybe...

You stated that it is a "smaller conference area" and a "standing conference" table. (Interesting idea btw... could keep the meetings shorter!) So, question is: Is 61" too big? How close will the standees be?? If you don't need all that screen real-estate the options go up big time. What I've seen out of the $3,000 42" ED Plasmas from Panasonic is really excellent, especially with PCs. Heck they even have SD and PCMCIA readers in the front panel for photos and such! I've also liked NECs FWIW.

If they are standing within 10' feet of the screen, I would seriously consider going with a 42" ED plasma. Performance expectations will be met and the wow factor will be there (plasmas look pretty 'cool' in conference rooms). The budget will be maintained as well.....

My $0.02...

How about the Infocus/RCA 61" thin DLP... Considerably less than a 61" plasma and you can still hang it on the wall.

3 of the 4 offices are getting 42" NEC Plasma's
I was just polling for experiences with PC into RPTV.
It sounds to me like $4000 is the magic number.
I could also see the size going down to about 50-55" area.
PC's are being built, video card recommendations are also welcome.

Thanks Guys.

We installed a 56" Samsung DLP into an office in the entry foyer that runs a PC slide show of the builders jobs all day. We used an ATI video card with a custom driver from powerstrip to the TV over DVI. The picture is great(on higher res pictures, some of their older low-res stuff is grainy). The PC was installed with a wireless keyboard/mouse to control it and the only compaint we get is all the emplyees want one in their office. I am going out to that job today, I can take some pictures if you like.
