Ive got a control system controlling some 5th gen apple TVs over IR.

The control system is set to send 1x command for each press of the remote (eg. no repeats)

But the Apple TV is receiving "double commands" eg. if you press "right" it moves you to the right twice.

Any ideas why this might be / how to remedy ?

A bit further info :

The control system is Savant (running latest firmware, drivers and hardware) Ive left this info down below as i presume its an Apple TV issue rather than a control system issue. Ive checked the driver and the driver is only firing 1 command (eg. no doubles)

Im using IR as the Apple TV Homekit IP integration is a marathon to setup and dont want to use a unofficial IP driver incase it stops working.

Let me suggest two alternatives:

*Can you learn IR codes into the control system from the Apple TV remote?

*I did not AT ALL like the difficulty of working the cursor control buttons on my Apple TV remote, and found the $25 ChannelMaster CM-7000XRC. It has hard buttons, not slippery slope buttons. Perhaps the codes from that will work.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

I always use Denon DVD player codes and teach them to Apple TV. We do this for Crestron if we do not have the ability to do CEC control. We also stay away from IP

Did you watch in System Monitor the commands going out to see if they are doubling up? Or watch the host log live and see what goes out? What Savant version are you on? And host? Is the IR tied to a SSC?

Pretty sure I read on another forum about Savant and Apple TV control issues recently.

I've seen this issue a few times with Crestron with codes I learned into the Apple TV and codes learned into Crestron from a remote and never figured out the exact cause. It is possible it is an issue with the Apple TV as I have had a site where 1 apple TV had the issue and another did not using the same control module. In Crestron there are a few different ways to fix this. It has been years since I programmed Savant but I seem to remember being able to edit the driver and adjust the length of the IR pulse, you could try shorten it.

Emitter placement? I put in a gen5 a while back and put the emitter dead center as usual and it didn't work at all. Moved it over to the left and it worked fine. That install is Savant with xantech 283D emitters. Savant IR control of ATVs has always been solid for me.

I don't have any experience with this combination of equipment, but I have encountered situations where the IR signal strength overpowered the receiver. Moving the emitter decreased the signal strength.

I do not know Savant, but the problem described in the title is normally caused but badly learned signals, for example the (learned) intro sequence consisting of the (real) intro sequence followed by one or more copies of the repeat.

The Apple TV uses the "Apple Protocol" which is a special case of the NEC1 protocol. Its intro sequence is 34 pairs; the Pronto Hex form should have "0022" as the third number.

Not sure if this is relevant but ...
The Direct TV App on my AppleTV was doing this after an update with my C4 system. Thought I was going to have to reprogram but I tried a restart of the AppleTV and the problem went away.
If you haven't done this give it a try.
