Does Yamaha MusicCast use 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz and where did you find the info?

Yamaha has always been good at having people who'll talk to you on the phone.

Yamaha Tech Help: I've gotten help from this number for more than twenty years:
714 522-9105.

This number is/was the number of a trainer: 714 522-9088

If all else fails, you could try the private service company that's almost directly across the street from Yamaha:
(714) 562-7400
[email protected]

Yamaha Parts might be able to reach someone who could help:
714 522-9958
7:00-12:00 & 1:00-4:30 PST
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Found it! Here is the info incase someone else needs it.

All MusicCast products are Wi-Fi CERTIFIED® and capable of operating on a 2.4 GHz. MusicCast products offering MusicCast Surround/Stereo compatibility also support 5 GHz.
When setting up a MusicCast system, it is generally advisable to select an SSID designated as 2.4 GHz since lower frequencies offer more reach through walls, floors and doors. For MusicCast models that support 5 GHz, this choice may provide cleaner channel availability in environments with especially heavy wireless congestion.
MusicCast Surround/Stereo configurations automatically make use of a separate 5 GHz connection that does not pass through the router, allowing for the best performance between devices within a single room.

Hardwire it unless it's physically impossible or use a port on a mesh network device.
My mechanic told me, "I couldn't repair your brakes, so I made your horn louder."

Or, they could do an online search and read the manual- this page contains some of the info, with a link for more.

Units are hardwired, need Wi Fi to control via iPad.

What does the MusicCast WiFi settings and capabilities have to do with the iPad controlling it? The Yamaha doesn't do wired and wireless at the same time and using the 2.4Mbps or 5 Mbps bands doesn't matter unless each band is set up to operate as separate network nodes for the purpose of isolation. My WXC-50 is hardwired and if I use my iPhone to control it, the WiFi band makes no difference whatsoever, regardless of whether I connect directly through the router or the access point in my garage.

I am confused by the Yamaha site where it says"All MusicCast products are Wi-Fi CERTIFIED® and capable of operating on a 2.4 GHz." Can you educate me please?

No need to reply, I understand now.

I assume that you looked at the switch on the rear, for WiFi and BT operation- if it's hardwired, the switch is left in the BT/WiFi OFF position, the middle position is for BT and the third is for BT and WiFi.

Just trying to add info in case anyone else comes here with similar questions.

BTW- have you used web access with a computer for these? It's great- I use it when I'm working with my laptop (rarely, at home) and desktop (very often).
