I used to use Harmony Remote on smaller projects with devices in cabinets.
Is there anything comparable out there?

I tried a SofaBaton and it isn't going to work. Looks good in the videos, but there's no dialog and the instructions are weak. Tech support couldn't help and their code library is small. They have a new one with a hub, but I'm not going to be the one who takes time to test it and find that it's no better.

They (Logitech) should sell the platform, but not to a competitor that has a weak code library, just so they can harvest the codes and shut it down. The Elite had many great features and the hub's performance made it very popular, but the Device Mode and ability to affect the setup by pressing certain buttons on the remote should never have been added. Sure, commands can be removed to prevent users causing problems, but they can be added if they know how to use the app. The app wasn't great, either.

You could go old school and do an decent remote (PC or URC) with a cheap IR sytem.

Pro Control, URC

Yes I think you are right ProControl might be my next best bet with a hub.

I have looked into SofaBaton but without a standard interface and no wireless hub I rather just go up to ProControl.
But 1 con with ProControl is they charge for mobile licenses because RTI hates when customers use iPads instead of remotes but everyone has a smartphone or a tablet and wants to control their system.
Harmony had the app for free.

As I posted, SofaBaton has a new model with a hub, but their communication of how to set it up isn't good. They need to find other sources of funds, rather than Kickstarter.

I believe you are referring to the X1 it seems promising but it is still in its infancy.
They have already pushed back there release dates to early next year probably because of covid and the chip and shipping crisis.
I think it would be worth a try in the future once the kinks are worked out.

I love the PC Pro24r and Prolinkr for single room systems. But I’ve never had success getting what I want done using the wizard, and the price is higher then many of the Harmonys so Harmony was my go to for simple system. No I’m using PC

I am in exactly the same boat. The Harmony was great for a basic system with a TV, Apple TV or firestick & cable box with Sonos and could even control some lights like Lutron. The price on the ProControl is significantly higher to do pretty much the same thing and they charge per device for the app.

I’ve never used their app for that reason. Harmony was easy and free (the app I mean). At the rate my clients upgrade phones and tablets I’m not telling them they have to pay for the remote, a few hours for me to program it the way I like it. And then licenses. Yeahhh no.

One issue with Procontrol is that if you don't have a copy of the program, you can't retrieve it to make any changes. You can't download it from the remote or processor. I think that's a major flaw.
