Is there anyone in the group that could answer some Savant questions?

I’m not a dealer but have an existing client who has asked me to fix the Internet at his mountain cabin as his big box retailer that originally installed the system has sent out the wrong tech three times.

I need to replace his router and access points and want to make sure it doesn’t interfere with his Savant remote/hub.

If this gets deep I’m willing to compensate someone for their help.

Thanks!

I wouldn’t fret that situation at all. Network scan should give you a good indicator on dhcp range. Port forwarding is far and few between now. Set it up and let it rip. You won’t have to pay any of us to send you down the 2.4MHz path;)

Savant remotes operate on Wifi, as long as the remote is on the same network as the host, They should find each other.

Keep the lan and WiFi SSID/Passwords the same and you should have no issues at all.

My only suggestion is to verify if they set static addresses for all of the equipment or DHCP reservations. That may cause some communication issues with some things. Savant controlling devices IP, etc. But ultimately, you shouldn't have if you keep it on the same subnet.

Is is one of those "consumer" remote/hub units that they went with for that brief period Bob was gone or is it an actual Savant system?

If it's the hub, toss it and get him something real.

Do you have the model number of the remote? If it's a little older (1st version of the REM-1000) it may be a bluetooth version with a wi-fi base. Even if you put a new network in with the same SSID password you'll likely need the Savant Connect app to identify it.

Hey guys thanks for your answers. I followed your recommendations and the remote came up just fine after I brought the network back online.

Thanks again!
