Since Integra is not available, I have had to fill in with some Yamaha receivers. URC code 1660 seems to have the most Yamaha codes, but does not have

Audio 5
HDMI 5,6,7
Scenes 1-4

RX-V6

Is there a full codeset somewhere?

If you have the RTI software available, I’ve had good luck finding codes there to use in other systems.

I checked some recent files and 1439 has scenes 1-4 listed the old way BD, TV, CD, RADIO. That's in recently updated CC program btw.

Also this thread seems way safer to post on ;-)

OK, thank you all, that might give many codes from different places but not audio 5 or HDMI 5,6,7.

Does Yamaha have hex codes on a support site?

Must be some Aventage guys here that know.

Re Yamaha Electronics Support Case #02580186

EDIT: Go to my dropbox at [Link: dropbox.com]
and copy the two files. I recommend that everybody copy these.

I'll have this link up for at least one week.

If anybody happens to have the software needed to convert these files from sets of boxes into Pronto Hex, please do that and share with everybody!

I got them from Yamaha at 888-926-2428. "Tim" was able to locate two files that theoretically have the info you need. He also told me about a website, https://ci.yamahaconnect.com/, where I could get more information, presumably other codesets.

The Yamaha site is difficult to work with: Tim told me I need to get a code from my distributor to get into the site. My distributor has zero idea what that's about. I went to the site anyway and it looked like I could just register... but no.

If you have a need for more of this kind of info, please call Yamaha at 888-926-2428 and ask until they come up with info. It's pitiful that there's not an easy to use site that lets all of Yamaha's PARTNERS obtain the info we need! I mean, they make money when we use their IR codes to control their equipment; how dumb to make it difficult to work with!

(The EDIT was a correction in the dropbox link.)

A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

That’s the problem.  The codes are unusable to the common man.

Buzz, that is amazing.

Wouldnt you think that a page full of non IR codes would have prominent instructions on what to do next?

I got the full page of codes from Ernie, from the Yamaha website, from Slimfoot, and from my rep.  No one knew about that magic converter except you.

I knew about it. Used it on the Yamaha PAB site for years

Tom, try the codes from the URC DB I sent you.

I created a Yamaha AVR device in an MX990 file.  That’s my most often used remote, and I can use transporter for any others.

Thinking someone would have consolidated all the codes into one codeset.

Thank you for all your help!

Once you know the sequence, you can manually generate a shortcut code directly from the published Yamaha codes and these codes are accepted by many programs. I used these shortcuts for years before Yamaha created that webpage.

This warning was valid fifteen years ago but it might still be so: If you use a Yamaha codeset for a different product, prepare to be surprised by the surround commands and perhaps the input commands.

Way back when, Yamaha used the same remote control physical button layout on more than one product's remote, but the input and surround commands were not always on the same buttons from one model's remote to another.

This meant that, say, the top left input button might be CD on one remote and DVD on another. And if you opened up the file for that second receiver to retrieve a CD command (top left button), you'd get the DVD command (top left button). This was more obvious with the extended set of DSP commands. There would be blank commands and wrong commands when you looked up the wrong model. The commands were all there, just not in the right place.

I chalked this up at the time to them using the same button layout, PCB layout, and remote command IC wiring. The ICs were programmed differently so all remotes could be laid out the same.

As I say, this might not happen any more with any of their remotes. It IS a reason to use the codeset for exactly the model you're programming for!
