I have an Intellipad in my home that I programmed myself using the remotes and teaching the codes in a few years back. I need to rewire my gear for new equipment and program the Intellipad again but I would rather do it from my laptop than have to re-teach the new sequences and new codes.

I know Niles wants you to buy a installer kit, but I was wondering if I could make my own download cable with the correct pinouts.I was thimking I could probably find the software somewhere.

For those of you with experience with the software , is it any good? Will I be able to find the software?

It's the same software and the same interface as the Intellicontrol... There used to be a PC interface called the Intellifile (not II) that was just an archiving interface (I have one in stock), but you can't modify, just archive. I don't know of any other way to interface with it...
That said, the software is great (IMHO), and you can use all the codesets you've learned for everything else to program the Ipad... much easier than without

Is the Download cable something I can make? I have various cables for Pronto, URC, and more. Will any of these work?

The cable is easy to come by, but the Intellifile II is not... They make you take a test... every now and then, I've seen one on e-bay, but not usually cheap...

No, the cables are everywhere... you can buy them from Niles, but every Ipad comes with one, so most Niles dealers have them just lying around, and you should be able to find one with no trouble at all. The interface, however is more of a problem...

You cannot just use the cable. The intellifile II must be used between the PC and the intellipad.

The software seemed easy to use but I guess I'll be teaching codes in.
