I just tried to learn IR codes from another air conditioning unit remote and resend the learnt codes to the AC unit with the Harctoolbox dongle and IrScrutinizer and it worked.

I'm not sure why I can learn the IR Power On command from my Panasonic TX-40DX700B TV remote but it won't switch the TV on when I transmit the same learned code.

Any ideas?

The issue in the thread title has been resolved.

So the question of why your Pana does not react to IR remains. (Possibly start another thread; Pana experts may not read this?)

My guess is that the remote sends IR + BT/RF in parallel, and your TV is only configured to listen to the latter. After all, IR control is considered legacy.

Good luck!

Now that the USB harctoolbox dongle is working okay, I found a good enclosure that works well if anyone else is looking for one.

Hammond 1551, Translucent Red Enclosure, IP54, 50 x 25 x 15.5mm

RS Components Stock no.:197-4483 (less than £2.00)

Kewl! Looks much nicer than the 3D-printed "Nano housings" you find on ebay. Will try it.

Ideally I would like something with 1/4" thread for a tripod (like the smallest Gorillapod or the like).

Why don't you screw this 1/4 Tripod Mount Adapter on to the bottom of the case -

I have been using a Hammond 1593KBK with a 1593PIR10 IR panel. I mount the emitters and receivers directly behind the IR panel.
Got the idea from the IRClone-MX programmer for the URC Home Theater Master MX500/600s
