SVS PB3000 is worth a look and a listen.
This industry is not getting cheaper and cheaper, we're simply convincing ourselves that we have to push the cheapest option to customers.

Why does it have to be ported? I always thought, maybe incorrectly, that higher end subs were almost always sealed. Will the sub in question be on the other side of a wall or cabinet, aiming said ports?

REL is a great sub company.  Look at the JL line for up to 2k.
