I haven't dealt with outdoor TV's before so I need a little input.
Client wants a 65" or 75" in a semi shady area. So I was looking at the SunBrite Signature series for "partial sun". It will be under an overhang of 24".
I'll be using DirecTV and Sonos in this job. So grouping with the other rooms will be needed to keep audio and video in sync. That being I'll have to use a sound bar with a Sonos Amp.
One question on the DirecTV delay. I know there is a bad delay between the main DVR and the mini Genies. If I use only mini Genies for the TV's that are being viewed and grouped on the Sonos I know the audio should be fine. But I can't have a video delay. Would the audio and video be in sync using the mini Genies??
I'm going to test the delay between two mini Genies when I get home.
Any input on outdoor TV's and using Sonos with a sound bar would be greatly appreciated.

The Samsung Terrace TVs look awesome in situations where there is ambient light. We like them over the Sunbrite from a picture standpoint.

Is there a reason you aren't using a Sonos ARC or BEAM (aside from them not being weatherproof)?

Anytime I see a mini-Genie, I throw out a disclaimer about slow menus, video issues, etc. I guarantee nothing with mini-Genies aside from my desire to hit them with a hammer.
See our Youtube page for info about smart homes, great audio and more.

The Terrace is so much better than a Sunbrite, you would be doing your client a disservice to not use that.

I don't know where you're located, but here in Portland I had a takeover job where the original installer put a Playbar outside on a mantle in a covered outdoor living space- the homeowner was on their third one in 4 years when I walked the site. Can you post a picture of the install location?

I'm trying to follow you here.  Is there any reason TO use a ARC or BEAM outside?  They are not designed to be out there, and you can use an Amp with outdoor speakers quite easily.  Just trying to figure out why you would put one of them outside?

Thanks for the input

Not using an Arc because of it being outdoors, directly exposed to weather. That's why I'm thinking of an Amp just behind the TV in a closet. But I'll need a speaker bar or could possibly use two sats or rocks below it.

I'll be looking at the Terrace then. Thanks !!

This will be on on an exterior stucco wall with only 24" overhang above it. The plan would be to use an AMP (located in a closet behind the TV) with two ground speakers or a speaker bar. It will be directly exposed to rain, etc. during a storm as well as direct sun every afternoon.
(EDITED)

After looking at the 75" Terrace I'm thinking it'll work nicely. Those that have installed them, how do you like them?
Gonna try a Sonos Arc below it and have a cover made for it, if the Samsung cover doesn't cover it.
Though I have one question about the Samsung Speaker bar. I assume it's connected directly to the Terrace with some type of special cable or bluetooth, etc. and couldn't connect it to a Sonos Amp (hidden in a closet).
I'm seeing the need for a universal remote to control Directv and Sonos. I'm worried about using it with direct sunlight on them and not getting the ir signal.

I have a job with a Sunbrite tv and using two rock speakers with an Amp. Sound much better in that environment than an Arc. Client absolutely loves it

One really good reason to use the Beam or Arc is if you want to send the TV audio to other Sonos speakers, you won't have their inherent delay, which will show up as bad lip synch.

I have posted about this in other threads, about a job where I had installed Sonos connects and an amplifier for the outdoor speakers over/under their deck and at the fire pit, then the homeowner went to another dealer for their outdoor TV, had problems and called me to fix them. If this guy had said something earlier, it would have been possible to avoid the problems with the network, but the project is done and landscaping isn't going to be disturbed.
My mechanic told me, "I couldn't repair your brakes, so I made your horn louder."

Why not just use an Amp and a pair of outdoor speakers up high under the eave? How are you going to make a moisture-tight enclosure for an Arc that doesn’t make it sound terrible?

^^^This is a good idea. I had posted earlier about possibly using an ARC or BEAM BUT if there is any form of sunlight on it, it will fade over time and it will definitely have a shortened lifespan. I had mentioned those as an option earlier if the outdoor area was completely covered from the elements and sun (we've done a few outdoor areas where the A/V gear is completely covered by structure...it's basically a house with no doors).

We did one Playbar in an area that we thought was covered enough (but not as well as I detailed above) and it was a bad choice. Faded front and weathered connections after 1.5 years.

You could use either outdoor speakers or some form of weatherproof LCR with the AMP (Sunbrite makes a few and there are other companies as well).

This is what I mentioned above (though I had written ARC NOT AMP). I do like this idea the most. I need to get the owner to agree.
