Have any of you guys had an issue with OvrC stuff, particularly the WAPs, disconnecting and reconnecting from their server over and over and over? Every time is happens, I get a notification, but it's essentially meaningless since it doesn't impact the end user. The device is never offline...it just can't reach their OvrC server, I guess.

I called Snap about it while I was on site one day and the guy told me to adjust some DNS settings in the WAP, router and a switch, but it didn't change a thing. I was logged into one of the units and could watch it disconnect and reconnect over and over. Every 2 minutes, it would disconnect for 20 seconds and then reconnect, like clockwork.

This issue just sort of started happening. Some of the installations are years old at this point, so I'm not sure if some Araknis firmware update caused it or if the ISP is somehow involved.

Any insight is appreciated...this one is super annoying!

We've been seeing it with MANY of the 5 port switches and the IPW2 pieces. We have 3 port IP pieces in a bunch of those same homes and we aren't seeing the notifications from those so we're confident that the network isn't dropping.

I'm wondering if all these OVRC switches and IPW2 pieces need to be set on a static IP. On many of these jobs, we have them on DHCP.

If you find a solution, I'd love to know. At some point, we may go back to a few of these jobs that keep notifying us, put the pieces on a static IP and see if the notifications stop.

We are seeing all kinds of minor issues with OVRC and Pakedge BakPak. I am assuming that this is all due to the looming changes being developed to make all of the newly aquired Snap family of products play on the same platform. I do not think much attention is being paid to debugging things on any existing firmware as all of the resources are being dumped into the new platform.

I also must say that I have seen similar kinds of issues with almost every manufacturer. I think Covid, remote team work and the various challenges presented by this came at a time when new products and significant platform changes were being released. This in turn made companies less agile to debug and identify issues slowing the resolution of initial issues.

Looking at this closer, it looks like it's almost all 300 series access points that I'm getting these notifications from. We have a lot of switches and Watt Boxes out there too (mostly 3 and 5 port), and they seem to be OK.

I had an OVRC device do those kind of consistent reboots.

I believe in my case, I had it pinging an IP address that had changed. When it didn’t connect it would do an auto reboot. Probably a programming error on my part.

Bump to see if folks are getting less notifications due to the recent update to OVRC? I talked to a tech support person there who indicated that threshold was increased to a larger number of seconds to help alleviate this.

My cell phone has been unusually quiet with off-line devices lately. I wonder if we have a Spinal Tap 11 situation or was something tangible fixed?

We have put in some Araknis networks recently and we keep getting false notifications constantly from APs, routers, switches and it is at the point where the platform is useless to aid us in providing system status.

We've got the devices on static or reserved IPs, everything set up correctly in the devices according to Snap and still get false notifications virtually every day.

Snap...feel free to reach out directly with answers if you have them. We have called many times.

NOTE: Our 3 port and 5 port IP pieces that we've been installing for years seem reliable and when we get notifications, the network is actually up/down. It's everything else that is BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO for us lately.

Could this be a secondary DNS issue?

I don't think so. We've normally been using Google as the DNS. Snap also said that everything was where it needed to be on both of the recent projects we've done when they looked at our settings.
