I am having major problems with RF interference. I have tried several MX-3000s and several MRF-250s in this installation. The remote will tramist fine for a few minutes, and then will stop working and then work again a few seconds later. Sometimes it stops completely and then starts again. Has anyone else solved a similar problem? I have tried unplugging the receiver from my power conditioner, moving the receiver to various locations, changing out receivers and transmitters. etc. I am ready to toss the RF and install an IR sensor in the room. Damn shame and a major dissappointment for me and my client. I am convinced this is an interference problem, but there is nothing that appears to change in the environment, and all components I am controlling seem to be affected. HELP!!!

Taking off the antenna has helped a number of times for me.

If you are using address "0", that is an open address which will pick up any RF. Be sure you are using any other address to ensure integrity. Let me know if this is the case.

Like Control said, make sure it isn't on "0".
And secondly, this sounds like an issue I had with them awhile back. There was a certain firmware that would cause the remote to lock up. The fix was simple though. Make sure you have the latest software download off their website. Then load and save your customers file onto your comp and load a blank file into the remote. This should bring the newest update into it. Reload your customers file and the remote should stop locking up.

Thanks for these ideas...the 250 is set on 8 (default). Does it make sense to try others? Seems easy enough to check, and particular one which works best? I will try the firmware idea. the IR port seems to work fine, but I have not tested thoroghly. The unit does not lock up, it drops out completely then comes back...is this what you meant when you said lock-up. Sometimes its just flakey as well. Gets every other command. Both these effects seem to happen on all components. I will also try removing the antenna (a bit counter intuitive, but I will try anything at this point). Thanks...i will let you all know how these ideas work out.

The MRF-250 is one of the most stable RF receivers that HTM released. I used to perform extensive support on RF issues with the earlier models, so this is interesting.
One thing you can try is taking the MRF into another room with less electronic equipment and testing it. I suppose if you have some kind of very powerful RF interference, it could be causing this. Be sure it's not sitting on top of a sat/cable box or Tivo...particularly HD equipment.
If you have no luck with that, consider calling Universal Remote Control to get some additional support, or perhaps a replacement. This is not common for an MRF-250. You can reach them at: (914) 835-4484.

Just a thought, but what you are describing may also be caused by an errant learned IR code. I've seen such a code put an MX-3000 into freeze mode for up to 5 seconds or so!
