Can anyone shed some light on this code at the end of my post?

It was learned onto a Yamaha RXV2400 remote power button from a NEC plasma remote - it is the on and standby button learned onto the one button of the Yamaha, by hitting learn on the Yam remote and then quickly pressing on then standby of the NEC remote.

It has then created this "mutant" code that can be used as a power toggle.

Problem arieses with the new RXV2500 remotes - it will not learn it.
It will learn onto a variety of other remotes, but the RAV352 with the RXV2500 does not like it at all.

Can anyone shed some light into it, or even have a power toggle for the NEC plasmas?

Another question is, anyone know the use of the 6pin plug in the RAV352 remote - seems to be standard JP1 but I can find no mention of any interface/ software Yamaha might have for it.

cheers

Somewhat off topic...this is the first time that I recall anyone every looking for a power toggle button.

Why would you want one when you have discretes?

It is to use on the Yamaha RXV2500 remote.

The RAV352 remote with it has a single TV power button - no seperate on or off.

Want to put the toggle code (well mutant code) on it for simple on/off switching.

Try both the Pronto and the Pronto NG forums, with apologies for not actually asking about those models. The guys who lurk there more than here will LOVE this one.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

I wonder if that 6pin plug in the back of the remote is anything to do with the problem on the 2400 that only I apparently could trigger? If it was a remote code sending problem, and they were worried it may occur again then a way of updating the remote may have been built in?

Thats my guess.

The 2400 has an RS232 connector on the back, which is a nine-pin connector. Is that what you are referring to?

That can be used with software from Yamaha to preset and adjust many things in the receiver, and can also be used for realtime computer control. If you are willing to dedicate a computer to, say, turning the volume up and down.

What does the label of that six-pin connector say?

It interfaces well with the MusicCast via the rs232

The Reciever editor software is kinda cool.

The six pin is on on the remote control itself. I dont remember seeing one on the 2400 remote. Open the battery compartment and its there.

No Label

john,
I thought I was responding to this, but I missed the fact that you said the six pin connector was on the remote. What problem on the 2400 that only you apparently could trigger? This sounds like you are referring to something you already wrote, but that is your first post in this thread, so, well, huh?

Then,

And now I am confused again. What remote are you talking about if not the 2400 remote, and where in this post did you name it?

Hi Ernie, the first post at the top of page is all about the problem with the 2500 remote.

The post concerning the 2400 is in the hometheater section of this site, if you do a seach 2400 it will come up. So many have read it I assumed (ah my mistake) that most installers will have read it.

Hope thats cleared it up?
