Just installed my first CX455. The power discreets posted here at Remote central do not work for any of the three command modes. There are a couple of new features and new codes on the new remote however, all the previous codes seem to work fine except the On/Off discreets. Has anyone found or generated any codes that that will work for these new changers yet??? Also, does anyone know if the new CX450 (RF) can be controlled via IR as well? Thanks to anyone who can help!

Does the discrete global Sony "Off" command work? If so, you could use that directly to discretely turn the player off. Turning it on could be accomplished by starting your system on macro with that same Sony global off command, followed by the CDP-CD455's power toggle command, which would have to be on 'cause you know you just turned it off.

Found the same problem with the three sets of discrete ON/OFF codes I have. Also used to be able to use the PLAY command to turn on the CD player, but this feature no longer works. Anyone with codes that work???

Went thru all of the codes for this device on device code 17 IR codes 0-255 and alas, no discrete on and off codes seem to exist unless they are Sony System functions that this device would respond to (I've tried all of the other codes posted on RemoteCentral for Sony global On/Off too with no success).

The only item of note is that discrete 17 IR code 95 (and 223 see below) is Fade in / fade out which does not appear on the original remote. The pronto code is:

0000 0068 0000 000D 0060 0018 0030 0018 0030 0018 0030 0018 0030 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0030 03A5

by the way, there only appear to be 127 IR codes for this device - codes 128-255 are repeats of 0-127.

I miss the CDX-450...

1. The 455 has no power discretes. This really bites.

2. PLAY doesn't turn it on automatically. Thanks guys!

3. GROUPS are now all kludged up. Worked great before Sony "fixed " it.

4. No more on-screen display. Bet that saved them at least $1.98 per unit.

I need a new go-to CD changer now - We won't use the 455 anymore.

OK, laugh me out of here but I may have a not so elegant solution. I've unplugged the 455 several times tonight for up to an hour and each time I plug it in it remembers the last state it was in (Power on or Power off). So... With the help of a receiver that utilizes a switched power outlet or (gasp) with an x10 module the 455 seems to be capable of being power cycled to simulate discrete on / off. I've unplugged the unit for the night to see if the last power state is truly "remembered" or if it is the byproduct of bulk capacitance keeping the micro alive for more than the hour i've tested so far, i'll post that finding tomorrow. If this works I'll be out another 20 bucks for the IR to X10 converter so the pronto pro can discretely turn the unit on / off but at least the CD will always be on / off when I (or more importantly the wife) want it on / off.

Is it just me, or does it seem like the Sony crew will never understand what a Discrete code is?

Ok guys, here's some new info. Does anyone have access to a Sony CIS generator? If so here's the serial strings to send in, to get the IR out:

/x: represents the byte as hexadecimal within a Crestron system.

/x80 /x06 /x01 /x00 /x45 /x11 /xF0 (discrete on)

/x80 /x06 /x01 /x00 /x45 /x12 /xF0 (discrete off)

If this doesn't work try substituting /x45 with /x44

Please re-post if anyone can do anything with these...

Thanks again

Brad S.
