At this writing I have not seen any comment on the RING site.

Seems that the "fix" is proper installation.

This must be what the fuss is all about:

So, again, why shouldn't I be able to secure the product to the mount using a 2" wood screw driven in with a 24V impact drill? The crunching means its secure, and the smoke means no one can steal it!

I have to wonder how many times this has occurred. If the screws come out, whoever is installing it should probably be able to see well enough to identify them and NOT use a freaking drywall screw if the original falls into a sidewalk crack or bounces into a drain.

Our lives are affected by idiots on a regular basis.
My mechanic told me, "I couldn't repair your brakes, so I made your horn louder."

From what I read, the issue is cause by incorrect screws that were included in the installation kit. If it wasn't manufacturer error, there wouldn't be a recall.

Huh. My Ring just died after about 2-3 years of a charmed life (never saw rain or direct sunlight), and after it stopped working, it was almost too hot to touch. It's not the model they're recalling, but I'm not sold on their story. I've been meaning to call about it. I'm thinking the wait times just increased.

According to the site linked above, the remedy is only "New Instructions". I suspect people were using the included mounting screws in place of the security screw. Perhaps the instructions did not explicitly say to not do this.
