They are a value. They seem to have good pic, but even their 6 series don’t have hdmi 2.1 connections.

I think that could be important going forward. But I’m using a 4 year old AVPro hdmi matrix, (optical hdmi cables)and I don’t believe either are 2.1 either and I’m unlikely to replace them. So maybe I shouldn’t care. Sources are Roku 4K, CM off-air DVR, older ATV that I will eventually replace and a 3 year old Sony UHD Blu-ray player.

Thoughts for a budget 65”? I would prefer IP control, but at least discrete IR. Elan control

Thanks in advance

They are Roku TVs, IP control is part of the package.

HDMI 2.1 isn't even remotely required unless you're a gamer... at this stage.
As you list no gaming consoles or PC's with the latest model graphics cards, then you'll be fine.

Even then, only certain games may benefit from 4K/120 AND it's not even universally decided whether players will actually like the increase to 120. I know it has zero effect on my gaming (3-5 hours a day)
This industry is not getting cheaper and cheaper, we're simply convincing ourselves that we have to push the cheapest option to customers.

Yes, but did he notice this lack while using one of these TVs, or read it in the specs?
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Ernie, please don’t slay my thread with your mundane comments and posts. Please either offer something of value and or go home. Or I will go to another forum where you don’t lurk and ask these questions.

Now back to the tcl discussion...The 5 series TCL even has qled, which they claim offers local dimming. That alone is a worthy feature.

Looks like most/many lg and Sony TVs do not offer hdmi 2.1, so I’m not going to factor that in to the decision.
