Reading about some funny fixes of automobiles made me think of ones for AV.

Had a coworker tell me about a house he went to back in the 80’s. Older lady was complaining about the picture on her new TV. The picture was good but she did not thing so.

This was back in the day when TV’s has the vertical hold adjustment. After awhile he had an idea. He told the lady watch the picture, I am going to make an adjustment and tell me when the picture is good.

He turned the vertical hold so the picture started rolling slowly. He said tell me when when you think the picture is good. After a few rolls of the picture the lady said stop, go back one. He did that and she said now the picture is good. He left and she never had another complaint about the TV.

We felt like thieves on this one but we couldn't let that stop us: CD Megachanger not working for a Lady in Beverly Hills. We visit the site, check it out, tell her you put the discs in with the label to the right. Charged her for the service call.

Incidentally found out that the OTHER Megachanger in the house, same brand (forget which) you put the disc in with the label facing the other direction.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

If I kept the nickels that I've pulled out of 12v cigarette outlets in people's cars over the years, (which was causing the fuse to blow) I'd probably have enough for a soda out of a vending machine.

I'm guessing that's why the lighter was disconnected on a car I bought.

Pulled the console apart to get to the lighter, turned the console over, change fell out and then finally found the fuse had been pulled.

Ever need to do this in a Grand Am?
My mechanic told me, "I couldn't repair your brakes, so I made your horn louder."

People also used to use them to smoke crack and meth. That would also cause them to short out.
