On one job I did, in the high rent part of town, the client was building a four story place.

Builder, being cheap, knew that Time Warner would install the cabling for free, so he scheduled the install.

The crew of three showed up and went at it. None of them wanting to go under the house, all runs were from the demarc, up to the attic, and then down to the rooms.

Not taking into consideration the length of the runs or the losses involved.

A few months later the house is ready, and a new guy comes out to install ends wall plates, and the demarc enclosure with several splitters in place, and no amps anywhere..

Nothing in the house worked. Nothing.

Another guy comes out, finds one unused wall plate. Plugs a wall wart in there and uses that one to back feed and amp outside.

Clients wife unplugs it and calls TW.

Guy comes out and tells her it MUST be done that way.

She tells him "Not in MY new home!" and sends him packing.

In the end I fixed it (there was power under the house).

I worked for a client who wanted to add a cable outlet in the back bedroom. After three cable guys, including a supervisor were done, not only did they not get the job done in the back bedroom, but the TV beside the client’s computer no longer worked. They told him he never had a working cable at that location, and must’ve been getting his reception through the air. He was livid.

My client had a bit of an accent, and when he raised his voice, it made it a little bit funnier. “Tom, I don’t get 400 channels through the air!!”
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

Tom

I guess he had the 1000 mile range, 400 channel antenna... :-)
