Ive got a project with an existing Samsung TV which is a few years old, and does not have a 12v output.

I want to house the TV in a TV lift, that has a 12v trigger to open / close.

We will not be using a control system, but will have a IR repeater.

I want the TV lift to open when the TV is turned on, and the TV lift to close when the TV is turned off.

Is there such a device that can sit inline on the TV power cable and sense the TV drawing power when the TV is on, and in turn trigger a 12v output relay, which i can in turn wire into the TV lift ?

Essentially a power sensing device with a 12v output ?

If anyone has any other suggestions on how to control the TV lift, it would be much appreciated.

Why not an AVR with 12V output?

Niles made (past tense) a current sensing outlet called the CS12V that would function in that application. My information is that it has been discontinued by Niles. Perhaps you could find one of those.

If the TV has a USB port, check to see if the 5V line is switched.

Make your own trigger. Xantech may still make the CC12, which is an IR-controlled DPDT relay. I just saw one on line for $210, which is a horrid ripoffThey also used to make the CC62, which is six such relays in one chassis.

A regulated 12 volt supply powers an IR receiver. The receiver's output goes to the CC12 bus (or CC62 bus). The regulated 12V supply voltage is switched on as needed by an IR command and fed to your trigger input.

Don't use an unregulated power supply. An unregulated 12VDC supply normally sits at about 16 volts. That high a power supply voltage may lock up a Xantech device.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

I've done this a few times over the years... it's a simple and reliable solutions as long as you don't need to control the lift independently from TV power.

I found some 5v relays that had USB connectors which made it really easy.  You'd need to add a 12v power supply to the relay.

CC12 may still be made. Last one my favorite supplier received was August 2015.

What lift mechanism are you using?

I’ve worked with many of the lower cost ones that have power sensing and work reliably, loud in sound, but reliable.

Tvliftcabinet.com comes to mind. Pretty sure it’s an OEM lift from overseas.

Yeah, that was a misdirected idea I had. I neglected that he said "with no control system." The Xantech stuff requires learning, transmitting, and receiving Xantech IR codes, so... a control system.

I have used this before for many uses like cable box power status and also TV power status. Put the photocell near the TV's status LED or you can stick it in the optical audio out port. This'll give you a relay output based on that status.

Add a 12v power supply to the switched outlet - it becomes the trigger. I've used this smartstrip for the exact application.

IR block with a relay that learns codes, so all you need is a button on any remote that isn’t used and repurpose to operate for the lift.

(fixed typo)

Yes, the open/close is code learning.
Simple and effective.
