Every 890 I have programmed has felt like a sloth. They just feel sluggish....a delay between button press and action. Even page flips have seemed a bit slow. This is compared to all other Mx remotes over the years. I jump from the 780 to the 990. 990 is a much much better remote IMHO. Always liked the 880 though.

Fun day.

I programmed the remote last night and "thought" that it would be a quick in and out.

The cable box Arris DCX3600 isn't listed in the data base but as I recall, but the code for the DCX3400 and DCX3510 are I think they actually worked (both have the same 110 code set).

Problem is nothing wants to work. Nothing.

Using the codes in the data base for the TV and the AVR and neither work then seem to work then don't work.. I think the above "sluggish" thing IS a problem here. The same codes used in my MX880 work prefectly.

Then the guys cable box quits working. No guide, no access to the menu, NO channels. etc, etc. Reboot the unit and it is still screwed up (other TV's running on Moca boxes are working fine).

Apparently, Spectrum has been out to his house on numerous occasions, in an effort to have this crap system work properly, and every time one of their guys comes by something else is messed up.

Running Snap extenders for the HDMI and they always work until the cable guy comes out. I noticed today that the cat5e termination has been twisted and bent, and now the picture will nearly drop out now and then.

I HATE SPECTRUM!

I've had the cable box HDMI port fail -- just a black screen and the TV complaining about "no signal", but the MOCA still works.

The programming takes FOREVER to download but functionally I’ve never had any beefs and I’ve done a lot of them.

I never even touched the MX810, or even had a thought of buying one after seeing one at EXPO.

It was URC's answer to the Harmony crap and it was just as bad as the Harmony remotes....

When your competitor goes low you go lower. Not a great idea.

That turd was far worse than any Harmony I have programmed.

From 'Dodgeball- The Movie'-

"What's our motto?"

Aim low!

URC has added a Help button to at least one remote and they don't dump on Harmony the way they used to. Maybe they have lost a lot of market share?

Fun day.

I HATE SPECTRUM!

I installed three EERO pro units in one place and in late Winter, I noticed that the network was offline, but the client hadn't called, so I figured he hadn't been there since it's their lake house. He contacted me about his outdoor TV and Roku problems, so I went there and asked about the EERO- turns out that the cable guy was there to fix the problems which were in the cable feed from the curb. HE told the homeowner that EERO isn't good stuff and he should get something else. It had worked fine for 1-1/2 years- I beg to differ.

The bigger problem there is the customer let them disconnect it. Which means they don't seem to value your expertise anymore so than a cable guy.

Whenever I have customers like that (that 'constantly' let other idiots mess with the system and change things), I don't value them anymore as a customer either. When they call, I just go in do my job and leave. I don't go above & beyond for that customer anymore, because they obviously don't appreciate it.

The Comcast guy installed a new gateway in the office in the middle of a rather large house. He unplugged the ethernet feeds going to both ends of the house and pulled power to WAPs located there. “With this new router, you don’t need those.” Wrong. One ethernet went to the a/v rack. Oh, you want Control4 to work?

Spectrum droid didn't install the google, so he had nothing to do with that- I think it was the place who installed the outdoor TV but didn't pair its remote.

Spectrum "tech" was there recently because the MOCA boxes weren't working. Apparently that's why the main DVR no longer works.

"Tech" will be there tomorrow supposedly between 12 and 1..

I wonder what else won't work now?

It's about that bad some times.

On one job, the Spectrum guy pulled everything apart in a structured can and left the home without phones and video. But his modem was working. While hanging from the coax...

And then, there's the lack of and bad communication & performance by people in CS and tech support. I had one job where the account was set up in May of last year, an installer came out to check the cabling. The previous homeowner hadn't used Time Warner in over ten years, so they said a new feed was required but he was checking from the wrong pedestal. Since it was a buried cable, they laid out a temporary one (heavy, not RG6 direct burial) and the homeowner didn't like the routing because it would have disrupted too much of the yard. Another guy eventually came out and said they had found the correct pedestal and said someone would call to set up an appointment. The second guy came out more than two weeks after the first, I never got any calls (I was supposed to be the contact) and it was a complete CF. They eventually sent someone who had a clue and he said they would be there the next day to bury the cable and drill under the driveway. The job took a half hour, but it took more than six weeks to reach that point.

So....

Tech came out and found the service to the house wasn't up to snuff.

Claimed corrosion on all the terminations outside the home were the problem so he installed all new fittings, new splitter, and a signal booster, the replaced all the boxes.

All I had to do was put the IR emitter back on, and test the remote.

Free at last, I am free at last (until something else goes wrong). LOL
