I've never done a short throw. I don't know if it can compete against a standard front projector?
It's for a basement common area where the ceilings are quite low, so thought this might be an option.

It's a fine looking projector. Availability might be a concern if you are in a short time frame.

Very nice projector, tons of options. Paired one of these up with the Salamander credenza built for it. Easy install and looked great.

I've seen it on a few occasions- picture is good, especially coupled with an ALR screen.

Keep in mind that you have to space it off the wall to get the larger image sizes, so you could be talking about a ~26" piece of furniture on the front wall.

A nearby dealer a few years ago did one in a show home, in a room that was "builder beige" with white plantation shutters on south and west facing windows that were always kept open...and they didn't calibrate it or even get it perfectly lined up with the screen. I stood in the room for about 15 minutes listening to civilians walk through and all of the comments were "wow, that's a big TV, but the picture sucks...oh, see, it's a projector TV, that's why the picture sucks". This is in a show in August where the show closes at 9pm, so nobody ever sees it in a dark room. Just another example of our industry shooting itself in the foot.
