i like the arcam, but conserned over reliability over the long run.

Pretty sure the Arcam is just a repackaged JBL anyway.

This is a huge range, though. Emotiva gets you down to $3k msrp, JBL SDP-75/Trinnov Altitude is $17-20k IIRC.

Have the Arcam AVR600 for almost ten years, not one iota of an issue. Just keeps
working

Is 16.1 a thing?

Do you mean 9.1.6 for 16 total channels?

16.1 is a thing-ish... because its configurable to meet your needs.

great suggestions on those processors. I think i really want Dirac, and support for multiple subs with own curve.

arcam scares me because they released a product with crappy firmware, but i like the way it looks, i like the feature set, and it meets my 2 must haves. my overall concern is are the bugs fixed and is it stable.

emotiva has a processor at 5grand that hits all my wants and needs, plus its upgradeable with board swaps. my biggest issue is, is it a quaility unit or is it a DIY unit that will be forever buggy.

i understand when you purchase a high end processor its like purchasing a ferrari. real expensive and not real dependable... what im after is something good that i can drive the wheels off of and not be embarrassed.

AudioControl?

Might want to wait for something good that supports HDMI 2.1 or has a future upgrade path.

Right now.  I'm not sure of any dedicated processors right now but if I were in the market for my own, I'd probably wait.

Re: Arcam reliability...
If you're buying the current range today you should be okay.
If you'd been looking around Christmas then you would have picked up a massively buggy mess.

So basically they completely stuffed up their launch and have slowly put their wrongs, right.
This industry is not getting cheaper and cheaper, we're simply convincing ourselves that we have to push the cheapest option to customers.
