I'm trying to source a full height (approx 37U) equipment rack on casters that is 18" deep. Something like this only not as deep:

Would much appreciate any suggestions. Thanks.
If it's not simple, it's not sufficiently advanced.

Middle Atlantic has some mdf/partical board racks that are 16" and 18" depth.. I have stacked 2 high before. Can not use lacing bars..

You can order another set of rack rails for the back. I have done it many times.

It's a bit of a waste of money, but Middle Atlantic AXS. You can get them 16" deep. You would throw away the rails and wire management, but the base is similar to a Slim-5 and you can bolt a 5W caster set to it. This is actually what i've done in my house. In my old house it was built-in to a nook and that's why i went with AXS. In my current house it just sits on the floor in a closet.

Snaps contractor series are 18.2", stack a 21 and 16, byo bolts and drill.
Technology is cheap, Time is expensive.

You want these on casters. They're tall and shallow. Normal racks tend to have the center of gravity toward the front. Just offhand that sounds like a formula for a rack tipping over.

Be sure careful.

I have this at home. I attached heavy duty castors to it.

Its pretty solid but if you are going to mount a lot of heavy gear i would glue and screw them together and think about wood or metal sides glued and screwed to make it more solid.




PS...absolutely ZERO cable management at 16" depth. Even if you bought the extra rails for the back you wouldnt be able to use it because of deep equipment.

I think I’ve been doing this too long. The only thing that drew my eye to the photo was an IR emitter on a Sony receiver with a Crestron system. It’s bothering me from a distance!

This was a cheap ($200) AVR that i bought like 7 years ago when my ONKYO's HDMI OUT died. I got it last minute at Best Buy to use "temporarily"...and its still here. There are no other control options for it and not worth cracking it open for the emitter because you know...its "temporary" LOL.
