Just wanted to mention the IR input works great. BUT...for whatever reason they installed a STEREO 3.5mm jack for the IR input. You must cut off the 3.5mm stereo plug end off something- I use the Y adapters that used to come with Sonos players- twist the ring and tip together and splice to the signal on the 3.5 mono/URC end. Ground to ground. It’s also way better to use as heavy gauge wire as possible on the mono pigtail (not the crappy URC emitters) and quality splices (not dolphins). You can cut the plug end off a Xantech emitter and keep the flasher end to splice into a cat 5 down the road.

Are you guys suggesting that Sony uses a stereo connector instead of mono on the IR input?!!

I'm wore-out silly with f...... retard manufacturers. As I recall even their 232 jacks are sorta out of spec.
how in the hell does ernie make money?

I assume that’s the case. Mono IR plug doesn’t work. Maybe it’s set up to receive a dinky link or something no idea.

Huh, this has been around for as long I can remember.

I bet you are getting interference on your remote. Those remotes really suck at RF, especially when close to modern equipment

This thread got a little sidetracked. My testing was all done via IR straight from the URC remote. I tested with a MX980 and a MX900. Not my first rodeo. All other codes work fine. Only the discrete HDMI input codes I am having the issue with and only on one of the 3 A9G TVs in the house. One did not work until I did a firmware update on the TV. No other changes were made so I assumed if I updated the other, it would also work. Not so. The 65" worked without doing any updates so I did not tempt fate and update that one.

I know not your first. Amazing indeed, one out of the three same model.

I prefer to use this if I'm doing IR for Sonys. Perfect solution

Nice. As with anything probably best to make sure there isn’t a lot of weight pulling on the connector as there is already some leverage there.
