From a tech point of you, what is the issue? It is a sealed cabinet, with interactions between the resonant frequency of the woofer and the volume of the cabinet. Like a bookshelf speaker with an odd shape. No reason it could not sound just fine.
If the fact that it looks like a plastic rock irritates you, I can understand that. That does not mean it cannot be made to sound decent.
There's a lot of grill blocking the sound on most rock speakers. I have heard very few that impressed me, so I haven't checked them out in quite a while. I prefer the Malibu lighting-style with the amp/sub/DSP setup.
