Hey everyone

Anyone having edid issues w Comcast x1 not playing well w receives? My 2nd one in 2 weeks? Cable just a doesn’t want to handshake? First one was w an onkyo, 3 boxes, new cables and a splitter finally got it to work magically?

This one is on a system w 2 sources on a aventage 870 w/ Apple and cable. Apple TV works perfectly fine. And when my rti calls for the cable source it switches and I see the GUI of the Yamaha piano. I’m Assuming there’s no cable output or something is wrong w the hdmi boards? But why cable and not apple?

TIA

Not usually a problem for me. Did you try the HDMI splitter trick again? That would have been my next move.

Just finished a house where a splitter was randomly needed for an AT&T uVerse box and Integra receiver. That was 6-7 years ago. Now client has Comcast, same Integra, no splitter needed. Random stuff.

That’s why techs have no hair after a certain number of years in the biz.
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

I had that problem before. I noticed that turning the cable box off and on usually fixed it. So I made the cable box go to sleep after 4 hours and sent the power command when selecting cable to make it turn on. I couldn’t find a Power off command and the power command was only a power on, not a toggle.

This is a Hot Plug issue. there are two fixes (one somewhat reliable and the other very reliable. Both force a Hot Plug reset.

#1 (somewhat reliable):
Instal an HDMI splitter between the STB and whatever is next in line.
Plug the splitter in an automated timer, turn it off every night and then back on in the AM.

#2: (very reliable):
Instal the Ethereal HDM-AIO2 between the STB and whatever is next in line.
Connect the HDM-AIO2 to a relay on your control system (if you do not have on use our CS-IRKITCCUS for this function [Link: metrahometheater.com]).
Every time you turn off the TV open the relay, when the TV is turned on close the relay.

Thanks Brent. I was thinking it was a clock stretching issue? The only thing these boxes do is update at 3am. And that I can set for whenever. Default isn
3am bc they assume no one is watching porn that late lol
